Regretfully there is not much that can be done to inexpensively strengthen received wifi signals: Try googling for "signal booster" for antennas and amplifiers.

Also search for "hotspot finder," and "WiFi detector" for a device, costing $20 to $30, to find available hotspots (AKA wireless networks).

Good luck!

Unless you are using a wireless network card for a major wireless distributer (i.e. Spring, Cingular...) there is no real way to find other networks.

The range expander is meant to extend your home wireless network. It is really meant if you have a dead spot somewhere in your house.

Otherwise, you may be out of luck for finding networks that are farther away. Remember that the card is just a receiver.
